Students and community members are reaching new heights through the Wall Climbing Club. The New Mexico State University Wall Climbing Club welcomes beginners and experienced climbers alike. Anyone can join as long as you have a signed waiver and an Aggie fit pass.
The club practices every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the climbing wall room at the Athletic Center, helping members build skills and confidence.
“You could be a school member or just a community member, as long as you have the Aggie Fit pass,” said Grace Jefferies, vice president of the club Grace Jefferies. “We’re very beginner friendly.”
Other members of the club say they enjoy the Wall Climbing Club because it offers time to take a break from academic stress while developing a new hobby and connecting with others.
The club competes in Aggie Cup events, where the top three male and female climbers in the beginning and high advanced categories, receive awards. Members also take part in outdoor trips throughout the year. To first time climbers to competitors, the NMSU Wall Climbing Club offers something for everyone.
