JACKSONVILLE, Ala. — The New Mexico State softball team experienced a weekend defined by resilience, momentum swings and hard lessons as the Aggies competed in a three-game Conference USA series against Jacksonville State University.
The series opened with early promise. New Mexico State jumped ahead behind timely hitting and a pair of solo home runs that immediately energized the dugout. The Aggies carried confidence into the middle innings, supported by steady pitching that kept Jacksonville State quiet early.
However, momentum shifted dramatically late in the game. A big inning from the Gamecocks erased NMSU’s lead, turning a tightly controlled contest into a comeback loss. Despite the defeat, the Aggies showed flashes of offensive power and the ability to strike quickly.

Friday night told a different story.
Responding with urgency, New Mexico State came out aggressive at the plate and composed in the circle. The offense found rhythm, producing multiple-run innings and capitalizing on scoring opportunities. The pitching staff delivered a poised performance, limiting damage and closing the door when it mattered most. The Aggies are home Friday through Sunday, April 10-12, for a three-game series against rival UTEP. NM State’s record is 18-20 overall and 8-7 in Conference USA, while the Miners are 11-29 overall and 3-12 in CUSA. The Friday and Saturday games are set for 6 p.m., with the Sunday game scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
