LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Both the Aggie men and women did well at the home rodeo held Friday, April 10, and Saturday, April 11. The New Mexico State Music Festival and rodeo was an overall success, with both teams placing well and individuals dominating.
With all the excitement surrounding the New Mexico State University rodeo results, perhaps the biggest accomplishment is the men’s team being ranked No. 1 nationally, an outcome of the hard work that has been put in throughout the season.
Team Results
After two days of competition, the men’s team came in first overall. Along with that, the women’s team placed third just behind Central Arizona College and Cochise College. The men’s team ended the weekend with a total of 685 points and the women with 125.
All Around Results
NMSU team member Cash Cox competing in multiple events won the Men’s All-Around. On the women’s side, Evann Segura placed second.
Individual Events
In the saddle bronc riding, NMSU athlete Kaden Miranda placed first and Billy DeLong placed second.
Three of our athletes placed in the tie down roping including Cash Cox, Damian Padilla and Mason McDaniel.
In the steer wrestling, our athletes excelled. Six individuals placed with Cash Cox taking the top spot. Nathan Clark, Kade McKnight, Dalton Nixon, Mason McDaniel and Lucas Cruz also placed.
In the team roping, headers Mollie Ruth placed fifth and Cassidy Bradshaw sixth. Along with them, Breck Babtiste placed fifth on the heel side.
Our barrel racers and goat tiers also had a successful weekend. In the barrel racing, Evann Segura placed fifth, Emily Davenport sixth and Weslynn Reno tied for seventh. Another three athletes finished strong in the goat tying. Including Bailey Massey, Sally Robb and Codi Reed.
Lastly, in the breakaway Payton Levine came in second, Evann Segura fifth, and Grace Wiening sixth.

The NMSU rodeo team also competed at the Regional Finals, April 23–25 at the Yavapai County Fairgrounds in Prescott, Arizona, home of the World’s Oldest Rodeo.
