LAS CRUCES N.M. — The Las Cruces Thomas Branigan Memorial Library has much more than just books to offer. It also hosts a variety of events for people looking for something fun to do such as journaling, board games like mahjong and even ukulele lessons for children eight years or older.
An event held this year was a vision board class to celebrate the new year. Individuals were invited to make their goals and new year’s resolutions a little more tangible in addition to the regular journaling classes offered.
“I also do the Friday morning journaling class, which kind of ties in,” event participant Lori Thomas said. “It’s a similar group and similar theme and it’s a great way to start the year.”
“[Journaling is a] great way to learn how to look at your life and reflect, document, be creative,” library supervisor Jenny Chatwin said. “Just come to any of the classes that the library offers, they’re really fun.”
The library regularly posts about what programs they have available on their website. This includes Qi Gong as well as Dungeons and Dragons. There is something to peak everyone’s interest.
The Thomas Branigan Memorial Library is located at 200 E. Picacho Ave. Its hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m.-5 p.m.
