LAS CRUCES, N.M. — The New Mexico State Football team has lost seven names to the transfer portal just days after the season ended. NMSU finished 4-8 in its second year under Tony Sanchez.
Transfers:
Wide Receiver Donovan Faupel
2025 stats: 61 catches for 661 receiving yards and a career-high seven touchdowns.
Faupel has spent three years at New Mexico State and was the leading receiver this year.
Wide Receiver TJ Pride
2025 stats: Eight catches for 103 yards and one touchdown.
Pride led the Aggies in receiving as a freshmen a year ago, but did not see the field that much this year due to being lower on the depth chart.
Tight End Gavin Harris
2025 stats: 37 catches for 514 yards receiving and one touchdown.
Harris led Conference USA in receiving yards for tight ends and was among the top 15 in yards in the country.
Offensive Tackle Elijah Harvey
2025 stats: In 153 pass-blocking snaps, Harvey allowed 11 pressures and two sacks.
Harvey played two seasons at NMSU. He saw more playing time this year, competing in nine games and starting the season finale.
Defensive Lineman Ezra Christensen
2025 stats: 42 tackles, 21 solo, 11 tackles for loss, six sacks and one forced fumble
Pro Football Focus (PFF) graded Christensen at an 88.9 for the season, leading CUSA and is top 10 nationally among DL.
Linebacker Tory Gethers
2025 stats: 88 tackles, 39 solo, three sacks and two forced fumbles
Getheer replaced injured Tyler Martinez and started nine games for the Aggies this year.
Safety DJ Hill-Smith
2025 stats: One tackle
Hill-Smith was a NJCAA transfer and did not see much playing time this year, playing 11 snaps.
