LAS CRUCES, N.M. — The New Mexico State swim team improved its record to 10–3 after defeating rival New
Mexico Jan. 31. The Aggies delivered a dominant performance, finishing first in
16 consecutive events.
The Aggies swept the podium with first-, second-, and third-place finishes in the
50 breaststroke, 50 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 200
butterfly and 500 freestyle. Thea Masselink and Dijana Mazumdar each captured three
individual event victories, highlighting the team’s depth and consistency.
On the diving side, Mira Tinani outperformed the field in both events she entered,
taking first place in the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions.
The victory capped off a historic Senior Day, with the Aggies losing only two events
overall. New Mexico State will next travel to Pharr, Texas, from Feb. 25–28 to
compete in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships.
