LAS CRUCES, N.M. — The New Mexico State women’s basketball team suffered their fourth straight loss, falling to the University of Texas El Paso Miners Saturday, Feb. 21, 69-58. The Aggies showed flashes of strong play but were unable to overcome their deficit.
Despite the loss, NMSU shot an efficient 7-for-14 (50%) from beyond the arc. Imani Warren, Loes Rozing, and Keira Hudson led the Aggies offensively. Warren and Rozing each scored 10 points, while Hudson provided a spark off the bench scoring 15 points to lead the Aggies.
The Aggies trailed at halftime 29-28, but failed to build momentum in third after being outscored 26-14 to find themselves in a 13 point deficit entering the fourth. The deficit was too much to overcome and the Aggies would end up dropping another game to fall to 11th in the Conference USA standings and out of the CUSA tournament.
Head coach Jody Adams pointed to the loss as a learning moment, emphasizing that the Aggies must improve after being swept by UTEP this season.
The Aggies will return to action at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, when they face the Kennesaw State Owls at the Pan American Center.
