LAS CRUCES, N.M. — The New Mexico State women’s basketball team lost its final game of the regular season against Sam Houston State University 55-71.
The Aggies kept the game close early, trailing by just four points after the first quarter. However, a second quarter in which they scored only 11 points while allowing 22 helped the Bearkats extend their lead to 15.
Senoj Jones and Imani Warren each finished with 10 points and added four rebounds. Anna Csenyi provided a spark off the bench, playing 30 minutes and scoring 11 points.
Despite the loss, the Aggies shot a higher percentage from the field than the Bearkats, finishing at 47% while shooting 23% from three-point range. However, turnovers proved costly, as New Mexico State committed 25 throughout the game.
The loss to Sam Houston ended the Aggies’ season, as they finished 9–21 overall and missed the Conference USA tournament. After the loss head coach Jody Adams was fired, and now the search for a new leader of Aggie women’s basketball begins.
