With spring break here, NMSU students are ditching the books for a well-deserved break.
Spring break gives students an opportunity to travel back home to visit friends and family, rest and relax in their dorms, or catch up/get ahead on their homework and projects from the semester. This year, spring break will last from March 14-22.
I’ll be spending my spring break working the Bataan Memorial Death March at White Sands Missile Range, working the NMSU baseball games, and watching the World Baseball Classic and March Madness.
Here are some NMSU students’ spring break plans:
Sophomore Dyami Provencio has a busy spring break ahead.
“I’m going to Monster Jam in El Paso and then to Phoenix to watch the (San Diego) Padres and (San Francisco) Giants game,” Provencio said. The journalism major also mentioned he will be photographing while he’s in Phoenix, one of his favorite passions.
Sophomore Katy Morris will be going back to her hometown of Clovis. She plans to travel to the state’s capital, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque during her break as well.
Junior Victor Aguirre plans to gamble and enjoy the nightlife of Las Vegas, Nev., with a group of friends.
Sophomore Aubrianna Garduno is traveling north to Española to be with her family and friends. One of the activities she has planned with her friends is to try the variety of flavors offered at 7 Brew Coffee, a “Dutch Bros-like coffee shop,” Garduno said.
Sophomore Linda Uzueta has plans to celebrate her birthday with her family in either her hometown of Deming or in Arizona.
Senior Cy Turner is a digital filmmaking major and will be spending his spring break in San Antonio, Texas, with his girlfriend.
“We’ve got plans to mini golf, go kart, checkout Sea World and the zoo,” Turner said.
Freshman Sofia Juarez plans to spend time with her friends and family, while enjoying some extra sleep during her break.
Sophomore James Wilson will go back home to El Paso to be with his family for the break.
Junior Gabriella Navarro is staying in town, working at Target. She couldn’t plan a trip back home to El Paso due to her work schedule.
Junior Austin Jaramillo will be going to his hometown of Angel Fire to snowboard one more time before they close for the season.
