LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Two new Las Cruces City Councilors are chosen this election cycle as residents of the City of Crosses headed to the polls. The 2025 election could be a pivotal one for Las Cruces, with voters deciding on positions ranging from city council and municipal judges to school board members across the city.
There are two open seats on the Las Cruces City council in Districts 3 and 6, as one incumbent, Becky Corran, retained her seat. Michael Harris emerged victorious in District 3, with 55% of the vote. District 6 is still not finalized; John Munoz leads with 39% of the vote, but because no candidate earned more than 50%, the ranked-choice voting contingency will kick in until a winner in the four-person race is determined. For Las Cruces Public Schools, voters voted on bond issues, mill levy and school board members. In District 1, Patrick D. Nolan ran unopposed. In Districts 2 and 3, both incumbents, Pamela M. Cort and Robert C. Wofford, were re-elected as members of the school board.
James Prentice Derossitt IV will be running unopposed in the Municipal Judge race.
