HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The New Mexico State Aggies lost in the quarterfinals of the Conference USA Championship to the Sam Houston Bearkats, 69–61. This loss officially ends the Aggies 2025-2026 season.
Despite Jemel Jones finishing with 16 points and six rebounds and Jae’Coby Osborne adding 10 points and seven rebounds, it wasn’t enough for the Aggies to overcome the deficit.
After trailing by 11 at halftime, New Mexico State scored more points in the second half but ultimately ran out of time to complete the comeback. Turnovers also played a factor, as the Aggies committed 14 throughout the game.
After the loss, head coach Jason Hooten said, “It’s a tough one to swallow.”
The Aggies didn’t have an answer for Sam Houston guard Kashie Natt, who finished with 17 points and 16 rebounds.
New Mexico State had multiple chances late but was unable to make a shot in the final four minutes, securing the Bearkats’ win. The Aggies finished eighth in the CUSA standings this season.
