NMSU baseball to host annual Duel in the Desert fundraiser game

LAS CRUCES, N.M. — The New Mexico State baseball team is gearing up to host the Tucson Baseball Team 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Presley Askew Field.

Last year, the Aggies played Naranjeros de Hermosillo of the Mexican Pacific League in a double header. This year, NMSU will be playing one nine-inning game that serves as a fundraiser for the Aggie baseball program.

This will be the second consecutive year NMSU has hosted Duel in the Desert. This year, they are playing another professional team from the Mexican Pacific League. The Tucson Baseball Team recently relocated from Sonora, Mexico. Saturday’s game will be the team’s first appearance since the relocation.

The Aggies are heading into year three of the Coach Jake Angier era and are coming off a promising season last year with 23 wins, including 11 victories in Conference USA play. With a mixture of returnees and newcomers, NMSU looks to build momentum heading into this upcoming season.

Tickets to the game are $50 with all proceeds going directly to the NMSU baseball program. Each ticket will also serve as an all-inclusive rate with food and beverages. This event is presented by Nusenda Credit Union.
