NMSU hosts TED Talks

Ross Marks, Lucinda Banegas-Carreon, Matheus Cezarotto, James Hall, Oluwatosin Saibu, Jasmine Brett Stringer and Jason Wyatt took to the Corbett Center Auditorium stage on the New Mexico State University campus Friday, Oct. 2, for the first-ever TEDxNMSU TED talks.

Marks is an associate professor at NMSU, teaching in the Creative Media Institute. He’s a filmmaker and the founder of the Las Cruces International Film Festival. Marks spoke on “Failure and the Collective Spark.”

Banegas-Carreon, a public health professional and college associate professor at NMSU, gave a talk titled “Motherhood Was Never the Barrier.”

“Shaping the Future of Design: Creating Better Experiences for Everyone” was the discussion given by Cezarrotto, a game designer, researcher and assistant professor at NMSU.

Hall is associate director of the NMSU Student Success Center, and gave a talk titled “It’s HALL About R.E.L.A.T.I.O.N.S.H.I.P.S.”

Saibu, speaking on “Who Gets to Discover?” is a biochemist, researcher and Ph.D. candidate at NMSU.

Stringer is a keynote speaker, author, and founder & CEO of Carpe Diem with Jasmine. Her talk was “REST is not a Reward, It’s a Requirement.”

Wyatt is owner and therapist at Excelsior Mental Health Services in Las Cruces. He spoke on “Honoring Resistance: Using the Language of Psychology and De-radicalization to Engage with Emotionally Distant Men.”

The event was recorded and could potentially appear on TEDx platforms at a later date.
